Swiss millionaire's son sets fire to Ferrari so he can get a new one

A 20-year-old Swiss millionaire's son paid 3 guys $15,000 to 'steal' and burn out his Ferarri 458 Italia, according to court documents. The reason he wanted the $245,000 supercar destroyed? So he could get an upgrade, a court was told. Honestly.
T he car was one of 15 - including a Lamborghini - which the 20-year-old's rich father had bought for him.
The son had also been given a property portfolio worth around $30 million and received around up to $10,000 a month from his father.
Despite this, he still wanted an upgraded Ferrari.
The 20-year-old says he was advised by a car dealer to commit insurance fraud. He hatched a plan with friends to set fire to his car, but to cover his tracks decided to do so over the border in southern Germany.
So while he visited a massage parlour -the friends stole the supercar but security camera quickly picked up those responsible for the theft who cinfested to the conspiration.

The 20-year-old told the court his funds had run dry by the time of the incident and was not brave enough to tell his father he did not like the Ferrari.

He was sentenced to 22 months' probation and fined some £20,000.

Nigerian dad sends his US-born teen sons to Nigeria for a year...to learn gratitude

Their dad is Nigerian, who relocated to the US and married a white American. When his sons turned 14, he decided to send them to Nigeria (where they've never been) to experience the culture and learn gratitude. Quite interesting. Read below..meanwhile, can more parents in the US do this?
A dad wanting his twin teen sons, accustomed to the comforts of the country club, to learn some gratitude took an unusual step. He sent the 14-year-olds to spend the seventh grade in Nigeria.
The boys, Noble and Evan Nwankwo, spent seventh grade at Mea Mater Elizabeth High School in Enugu, southern Nigeria. There, the day starts with 5 a.m. exercise and prayer, and continues with a 12-subject course load. There’s no help from mom on homework or washing clothes, either.
“Adversity is important in somebody’s development in life, as far as I’m concerned, because there comes a time when the storm is going to hit you, and if you never had that to fall back on you’re just going to fall apart,” Evans Nwankwo, the father, said. “I strongly believe that because it’s been important in my own development.”

Nwankwo was born and raised in Nigeria. He was one of 13 children. The family was well off. Then, the Nigerian Civil War broke out and they were running for safety and scrambling for food, and his father was killed.

He eventually made it to the U.S. and built a business. People around Cincinnati probably know Nwankwo’s work – his construction company is the go-to contractor that has worked on sites including Fountain Square, the Freedom Center and Washington Park.

As the boys were getting ready to go, things in Africa were looking bad. The Ebola outbreak was making headlines, as were attacks by the terrorist group Boko Haram on schools in northern Nigeria.
The elder Nwankwo said he had “a lot of apprehension as they were getting ready to go, a lot of anxiety.”

The boys had other concerns.

“I hope I’m not as lazy as I am now,” Noble said before leaving for Nigeria.
It looks like Noble got his wish. Besides being responsible for their studies, basic necessities like water required work to obtain.

“It was kind of eye-opening to see how much you actually have to work to get a simple bucket of water, and how you actually have to use your own strength to carry it back and forth,” Noble said. “And it’s actually pretty tough to hand-wash your clothes with that amount of water. You have to really manage it.”

“You have to be trekking all over the school just to get water to bathe with… Here you can just turn on the tap and there’ll be water flowing like it’s nothing,” Evan said. “There, you’ll, be struggling for it. Sometimes we would go without water for a couple days.”

Since returning, their dad said he’s already seen a change in his boys.

“I feel that the experience is one that will live with them forever, and they will be forever changed – maybe not on the immediate, but long term.”
Evan and Noble agreed.

“I appreciate the washing machine. I appreciate the running water. I appreciate the shower, so I don’t have to use a bucket of water in a bowl,” Noble said. “I appreciate my electronics. I appreciate my parents a lot more because I realize how much – especially my dad – I really realize how much he had to do to get here.”

Besides the actual experience, they said their dad taught them a lot as well.

“He’s taught me a lot, and he’s made me go through a lot to make me a better person, to make me a person that can just endure,” Evan said.

The trip may turn into a family tradition. Evans said he was going to put aside some money so any future grandchildren can also spend a year in Nigeria.

Nigerian gets 22 years in U.S. prison for helping al Qaeda affiliate

A 35 year old Nigerian man, Lawal Babafemi was sentenced to 22 years in prison by a US court in Brooklyn yesterday August 12th for receiving weapons training from al Qaeda's Yemeni affiliate and writing rap lyrics, among other contributions, for the group's English-language media operations.

Lawal ,who was extradited to the US from Nigeria after he was accused of the crime, pleaded guilty to the allegations in April 2014 but was sentenced yesterday

Man whose daughter drowned in sea 'stopped lifeguards from saving her because he didn't want her touched by strange men'

The father of a 20-year-old woman who drowned in a Dubai sea reportedly stopped lifeguards from saving her because he did not want her to be touched and dishonoured by strange men.

The unnamed Asian man allegedly preferred to let his daughter die than have her 'dishonoured' by rescuers, according to police. Lt Col Ahmed Burqibah, Deputy Director of Dubai Police’s Search and Rescue Department, said the girl got into difficulty on a beach in the city.
He said: 'This is one of the incidents which I cannot forget.
'It shocked me and many others who were involved in the case.
'The Asian father took his wife and kids to the beach for picnic and fun.
'The kids were swimming in the beach when suddenly, the 20-year-old girl started drowning and screaming for help.'

Lifeguards tried to rush into the water to help her, but the father became aggressive and pulled them away, Lt Col Burqibah told Emirates24/7.

He added: 'There was one obstacle which prevented them from reaching the girl... the belief of this Asian man who considered that if these men touched his daughter, this would dishonour her.

'He told them that he prefers his daughter being dead than being touched by a strange man.'
The father was later 'prosecuted and sued' for preventing the rescue teams from saving his daughter's life, he said.

“Davido Almost Signed Me To HKN,” Rapper CDQ Reveals

The rapper once got an offer of a record deal with HKN , which he turned down due to the binding terms of his contract with Masterkraft. Another day, another time, and CDQ would have been signed to Davido’ s record label, HKN Gang. The Indigenous rapper has gotten quite some following in 2015, with his starring role in hit song ‘Indomie’ , with rave reviews coming his way from the media. But all of this would have been a different story, had he held on from signing a deal with General Records, the Nigerian musiccompany owned by hit maker, Masterkraft. CDQ once got an offer of a record deal with HKN, which he turned down due to the binding terms of his contract with Masterkraft. “I got a text from Davido one morning, and he was like we should have a meeting.” CDQ told HipTV. “So we set it up and he wanted me to join HKN gang but unfortunately, I already signed to General Records owned by Masterkraft so we couldn’t make it happen.” CDQ was signed in 2013, after he emerged the winner of a rap battle at the popular weekly concert, Industry Nite in December 2012. In attendance that evening were producers Masterkraft, Jay Sleek, and Dokta Frabz. Masterkraft would go on to offer him a contract. CDQ still remembers that moment with fondness, and has termed it one of the biggest surprises in his career. “I still look back to that period as one of the biggest surprises of my career because I didn’t expect it.” He said

Trial In Africa Shows Ebola Vaccine 100% Effective

A recently developed vaccine against the Ebola virus provided 100 percent protection in preliminary trials, showing such promise that the World Health Organization is extending vaccination to “all people at risk.”

According to a WHO statement Friday, the VSV-EBOV vaccine was hailed as “highly effective” and could help prevent the spread of the deadly disease in current and future outbreaks.

Trials began in March in Guinea, one of the three West African nations rocked in the recent outbreak. More than 4,000 people who came in contact with almost 100 Ebola patients participated in the trial, according to the release.

WHO officials said it could take as long as two months to develop more supply.

More than 10,000 people have died in Guinea, Sierra Leone, and Liberia since the epidemic began last year.
